Vietämme itsenäisyyspäivää osoittaen kunnioitusta kaikkia niitä kohtaan,
jotka ovat rakentaneet maatamme tasa-arvoiseksi hyvinvointiyhteiskunnaksi.
Suomi on osa kansainvälistä maailmaa.
Toimimme aktiivisesti Euroopan unionissa,
Yhdistyneissä kansakunnissa ja monissa muissa kansainvälisissä järjestöissä.
Olemme osoittaneet, että vaikeissakin tilanteissa Suomi on valmis etsimään

Taloudellisesti, sosiaalisesti ja ekologisesti kestävä kehitys on haaste, johon on löydettävä

Suomen talouselämä on nopeasti kansainvälistynyt, ja kulttuurivaihto yli
rajojen on kasvavaa. Ulkosuomalaisuus on samaa kehitystä. Suomesta lähdetään ja

Te, suomalaiset maailmalla, rakennatte omaa elämäänne ja samalla olette
luomassa Suomi-kuvaa omissa yhteisöissänne. Olette suomalaisuuden lähettiläitä
ympäristössä, joka on yhä monikulttuurisempaa. Nämä kokemukset välittyvät
kauttanne myös tänne kotimaahan. Toivon että ne ovat omiaan osoittamaan
suvaitsevaisuuden ja moni-ilmeisyyden rikkauden ja voiman. Haluamme kehittää
maatamme avoimena, pohjoismaisena demokratiana. Tätä kuvaa myös
tälle itsenäisyyspäivälle valitsemani teema: ”Tasa-arvon ja yhteistyön

Tämä on viides peräkkäinen vuosi, kun tervehdin teitä itsenäisyyspäivänä.

Olli Rehn on Vuoden ulkosuomalainen 2011
Suomi-Seura ry on valinnut Euroopan unionin talouskomissaarin Olli Rehnin Vuoden ulkosuomalaiseksi 2011. Seura palkitsee Olli Rehnin hänen Euroopan komission
vaativissa tehtävissä tekemänsä menestyksekkään uran ansiosta.
Vuoden ulkosuomalainen -tunnustus myönnettiin nyt 19. kerran.
Vuoden ulkosuomalainen -tunnustus luovutettiin Olli Rehnille perjantaina 7. lokakuuta 2011 Helsingissä. Tunnustuksen luovutti Suomi-Seura ry:n puheenjohtaja Ville Itälä.

This sinister and disturbing opera documents the Duke revealing the dark secrets of his castle to his new wife.
This will be a semi-staged production, using video projection. Specially created films will be used as video projections onto unusual projection surfaces, surrounding the Orchestra as it performs Bartók’s score.

SIGNMARK THE DEAF RAPPER - FIRST UK CONCERT IS IN LONDON
The Finnish-born artist has performed in over thirty countries including Japan, the U.S., Australia, China and Ethiopia. Now you can experience Signmark in London, England on Saturday June 4th 2011 at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London.
Signmark was born deaf into a world where music is for hearing people. He pursued his childhood dream and today is not only the first deaf person in the world to sign a record deal with Warner Music but also an ambassador for equality among all.
Signmark (a.k.a. Marko Vuoriheimo) started spreading his message over strong beats where low frequencies play a crucial part. Hip-hop is Signmark’s music style because it has a clean bass-line and strong vibrations that allow the deaf artist to feel the music and adapt to the rhythm as he signs his lyrics.
Hip-hop artist Brandon is Signmark’s voice for the hearing audience and supports Signmark’s albums, videos and performances. The live shows are always bilingual and inclusive for a varied crowd. The songs are performed with Sign Language and spoken English.
As equality ambassador Signmark wants to spread the word that individuals can do anything if they just believe in their dreams and pursue them regardless of meeting a lot of “you can’t do it”. Their mission is to build bridges and counteract prejudice. Signmark says: “Your dreams are waiting to come true, start now, don’t wait until tomorrow.”
Supporting Signmark are Flava, hip hop dance act and runners up “Britain’s Got Talent” 2008.
